Tathren Stud was established by Catherine Brown and her Husband Dr Tony Drew Hawkesbury Equine Veterinary Centre at its original location in Cattai in the early 90’s. Due to the expansion of our equine interests, the Glossodia property was purchased in 1999. This property has allowed us to fulfill our vision of providing an excellent teaching and training facility, coupled with breeding successful show horses, racehorses and lovely natured riding school mounts.

 SAMSON (Glide)

Samson is another pretty bay gelding with 4 white socks. This good looking Arabian gelding was also a successful show horse before entering the riding school. He won his class at the Arabian National Stud Horse Show! He enjoys being prepared and shown by pupils, and is such a reliable mount. He possesses all the qualities of a great all-rounder…… he can jump, do dressage and also instill confidence in a beginner rider. He is truly invaluable in our school.

 RALPH (Tathren Trojan)

This steady Arabian Warmblood gelding (by Vivaldi) is another example of reliable mounts we have bred for our riding school. His mother Chari (Lasalle Charis) is one of our foundation school horses. Ralph has a rocking horse canter, and is very in tune to rider’s needs. He provides riders with confidence, and was also a successful show horse in his younger years

 HANNIBAL (Minstril Heights)

Hannibal
is a safe and steady bay thoroughbred gelding. He was also a successful racehorse before joining the school. He is also a quiet calm jumper. We look forward to acquiring his brother Bossy (Shift Boss) as a member of our school once retired from racing.

 UNCLE NICHOLAS

Nick is a foundation member of our riding school. He is now retired and can be seen grazing happily around the stud. His main duties these days include foal babysitting both at home and at their early shows. He taught many, many pupils to ride, and some of these pupils have gone on to win their rider classes at Horse of the Year shows and Australian National Arabian Championships. He is still stabled every night and kept in the utmost luxury. Thank you old boy for your many years of reliable service. Enjoy your retirement.

UNCLE NICHOALS

 LINCOLN

Part Arabian gelding by Catherine’s old stallion “Oasis Tacoma”, used mainly for grooming and handling lessons in his twilight years. Many pupils owe their early riding confidence to dear old Lincoln.

 JEDDA (Lasalle Jedda)

We feel if every child had a pony like Jedda; the world would be a better place. She has lovely manners and paces….. and is ever so reliable.

JEDDA (Lasalle Jedda)

 CHARI (Lasalle Charis)

Fantastic Arabian mare by Lasalle Quentin. She is just so careful with beginner riders, and this has been passed on to her son “Tathren Trojan” (Ralph). Her smooth paces and wonderful temperament make her a riding school favourite

CHARI (Lasalle Charis)

 TAHLINA (Classique Park Tahlina)

Palomino part Arabian mare. She is always in hot demand with our pupils; and we think this is because she is just so beautiful. She was a very successful show horse before becoming a school horse. A career highlight was CHAMPION PALOMINO MARE at 2002 Sydney Royal. Her first foal (2006) to Gleniph Sovanity is an outstanding golden palomino filly. He has produced 2 outstanding golden palomino fillies to 2007 Australian National Part Arabian Champion Stallion, Gleniph Sovanity. Her first filly, Tathren Summer Rain is owned by Kim Boyland of Bathurst; and her second filly Tathren Summer Nights, can be viewed on our For Sale page.

HORATIO (Tathren Horatio)

This highly decorated part Arabian gelding by SCHLAMBY PRINCE SHAMERE out of the delightful broadmare TATHREN HANNA has now joined the school horses. He is perfect for advanced riders wishing to learn how to ride and manage young horses under saddle. He is extremely reliable for his age and we look forward to many excellent years of service from Horatio both as a school and show horse.
