It is the catch cry of the Christmas Season.... "I would like a horse for Christmas please!" I know as I was one of the ever hopeful brigade on Christmas Eve waiting for the float to arrive with my Christmas Horse aboard..... it never did.. I got my first horse in July! I never did put much thought into where my Christmas horse would live... as I lived in the suburbs.. not on acreage.
The power of reason is not even entered into when you are a horse mad little girl / boy (yes.. I was once little), all you want is a HORSE!!
Tathren Stud provided "A Horse for Christmas" a few years ago and it proved a huge hit.
You purchase vouchers to be redeemed for "Horse" time. The first voucher is $150 and this is the very special one. This voucher is for a Christmas morning ride. You will arrive by 6am to be greeted with your Christmas horse in a stable ready to be saddled up for a ride. Pupils can ride for an hour and a half.. then feed, brush, rug and clean their horse's stable before putting their horse out to the paddock for the day. Parents can expect their children to be ready to go home at 9am.. so you can then spend the rest of the day with the family... and be bombarded by the Christmas horse stories.
Extra vouchers can be purchased to use over the Christmas break at a cost of $90 per day. The following horse days are available and the start time is 6am (to avoid heat and flies.. and to allow the rest of the day free for normal holiday activities):
Wednesday 27 December Friday 29 December Sunday 31 December Tuesday 2 January Thursday 4 January
There will be no formal instruction... but Catherine will be around or on top of a horse also and will be keeping an eye on proceedings. This is, after all, a chance for our pupils to assert themselves as "horsepeople" and to allow them to develop a bond with "their" horse. It will hopefully give them enough of a "horsey" fix; without parents going to the expense of buying and maintaining a horse.
This is also open to senior riders, as they may also want a pony for Christmas.
