Gift Certificates are available for lessons

1We provide riding tuition for pupils between the ages of 3 years to even our most senior citizens.

We cater for all levels of riding; whether you are a budding competitor, nervous beginner, an adult returning to riding or those looking at bringing on their own young or uneducated horse.

We are extremely flexible with lesson times. We start teaching at 6am right through to 9pm being our last lesson for the evening.

2Lesson are conducted on site 6 days / nights per week. Sundays as set aside for shows, Pony Club, gymkhanas and Adult Riding Club. On weekends where we are not taking pupils to competitions; we will have some private lessons available on Saturdays and Sundays. A weekend private lesson surcharge applies. Please contact us for availability.

CANCELLATION POLICY. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required when cancelling your lesson; otherwise you will be charged for your missed lesson.



Private Lessons

These are the best way to start lessons here at Tathren. We insist that you start with private lessons BEFORE you commence group lessons.

  • $70 per half hour (weekdays Monday to Friday 6 am to 9 pm) or $95 for private lessons on either a Saturday or Sunday, using our fully trained school horse or on your own horse not kept at Tathren Stud.


Group Lessons

Group lessons are held on a Saturday mornings. 

Group lessons are designed for pupils that have previously had private lessons here at Tathren Stud and that are competent in walk and trot. If you are a beginner or you are lacking confidence, then you need to undertake some private lessons to become more accomplished before undertaking group lessons.

Group Lessons are 2 hours in duration. In the first half hour you learn how to catch, groom, saddle and bridle your horse correctly; then you ride for an hour in a group to match your age and ability, then you learn how to un saddle, groom, hose (if necessary),rug and put your horse in a paddock.

  • $95 for 2 hours.

These group lessons are invaluable for developing your horsemanship skills as well as your riding.

We intend to reward those pupils who have made a commitment to their riding by purchasing or leasing a horse. After all, horses are not 'Just an activity!'
